At Amethyst Yoga there are
three styles of yoga
Vinyasa Flow, Forrest and Yang Flow to Yin
All of these are focused on the connection between the breath whilst holding postures or moving through the flow of postures. The focus on the breath helps ease these postures allowing stretch and finally relaxation.
Yoga will help you with:
Increased muscle strength and tone
Improved respiration, energy and vitality
Lowering stress levels and quieting the mind
Creates wellbeing in a group
Cardio and circulatory health
A flowing sequence of specific poses that coordinates with the movement of the breath.
The word ‘vinyasa’ can be translated as ‘arranging something’ like a yoga pose for example. With the flow of vinyasa you will warm up and this will re-energise your body.
A modern practice developed by Ana Forrest.
Ana Forrest describes Forrest Yoga: “Forrest Yoga is based in the rich practice of yoga from the east, but applied for the western lifestyle”.
It is founded on four pillars breath, strength, integrity and spirit. It is empowering, strong and playful too.
Yang flow to Yin
Yang to Yin Incorporates traditional Vinyasa flow and passive Yin postures with breathing techniques and mobility exercises, for optimal function of the body, along with soothing guided meditations and Tibetan bowl sound healing to calm the mind and soul.
By balancing our masculine (Yang) and feminine (Yin) energies you will leave the class feeling both relaxed and energised, ready for the week ahead.
Camilla founded Amethyst’s Newbury yoga studio in 2016, when she found herself with a burned-down barn next to her new home. A long-time passionate yogi, rather than simply rebuilding the barn as it was, she saw an opportunity.
Tash qualified as a fitness instructor over 20 years ago and has been passionate about health and well-being ever since. In 2007, whilst living in Japan, Tash began practicing yoga and was inspired by the Japanese ethos of the fusion of body and mind.
Lizzy seeks to help students connect with their bodies, fully experience poses and use them to flush out what doesn’t belong. She also brings her experience as a coach into the studio – meeting students wherever they are and inspiring them with a playful, upbeat style.
Certified in Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga with 5 years of teaching experience, I spent 3 of those years teaching and training in some of the highest regarded yoga schools around the world to find my own style of teaching.

Camilla founded Amethyst’s Newbury yoga studio in 2016, when she found herself with a burned-down barn next to her new home.
A long-time passionate yogi, rather than simply rebuilding the barn as it was, she saw an opportunity. She designed and built Amethyst Yoga on the site of the old barn as a way of sharing her passion and her knowledge of yoga’s benefits.
Camilla found that yoga is at its best when practised in natural surroundings. At Amethyst, those natural surroundings are combined with people-focused, empowering yoga that works for everyone, and every body.
We believe in a practical approach to yoga that welcomes all comers, including absolute beginners.
Our focus is on movement, strength and resilience. We know that with a regular yoga practice, you can achieve more and do more throughout your life.
We believe in the power of connecting body and mind, focusing on our own strength while working as a group to connect with each other as well as ourselves.
We also believe yoga is to be enjoyed, not endured. Our clients feel the benefits of yoga from just one class a week. Those who can commit to two, three or more classes a week find the benefits are life-changing.
